Kyle Jones was born in Cardiff where, having begun his musical career on keyboards, he made the transition to the oboe aged 8. He later gained a degree and postgraduate diploma at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama, where he studied with David Cowley, and went on to further study with Linda Walsh at Newcastle University in New South Wales, Australia. Kyle has made appearances with the South Bank Sinfonia, Canberra Chamber Orchestra, Hunter Symphonia and Welsh Philharmonic Orchestras. His radio and TV appearances include BBC Radio 3 and S4C. Kyle now works as a peripatetic music tutor for Cardiff County, teaching all woodwind disciplines as well as conducting two of the county ensembles. In a contrasting strand of his colourful musical career, Kyle plays bass guitar and is a busy session player and singer on the South Wales band scene, playing regularly with several functions bands and playing for two signed bands. In this capacity he has toured throughout the UK, Europe and the USA.
